Teaching Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon Boat Festival

For more than 2,000 years, the Dragon Boat Festival has been celebrated in China. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month — a date in our solar calendar that corresponds approximately to early April — the Chinese hold a boat race to commemorate Qu Yuan. QuYuan served as the Vice Minister of the ancient kingdom of Chu. He won fame for choosing death as a way to show his dislike of the rival state of Qin to the northwest.
