Teaching What Is Fascism?

What Is Fascism?

For years in the United States, the term fascist has been used by some to describe political leaders who are thought to be too conservative. I’m a teacher of World War II history who has written about fascism. I’ve found that historians have a consensus definition of the term, broadly speaking. Given the term’s current (and sometimes incorrect) use, I think it’s important to distinguish what fascism is and what it is not.
