American government was influenced by the legacy of the Judeo-Christian tradition, feudalism, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, and capitalism. Although feudalism created hierarchical classes and social groups, the Renaissance led to a greater emphasis on the individual. In this lesson, students learn more about how this legacy influenced the Founders’ ideas about government.
