World mourns the death of Nobel laureate Toni Morrison

Famous author Toni Morrison has died at age 88. Her publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, announced that she passed away peacefully on August 5, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. They remembered Morrison as a writer who treasured the written word, loved to read, and was most at home when writing. Millions of people have read and been touched by Morrison’s writing. Author Jesmyn Ward wrote, “How she knew us! How she sang to us the world! And now that she is gone, how we weep for our Beloved!” Like Ward, many around the world are saddened to learn of Morrison’s passing.
