How do you use Actively Learn in your classroom?

In-class reading and quizzes

What problems were you experiencing in your classroom or school prior to adopting Actively Learn?

Comprehension of texts, revision of answers.

What solutions did you try to address problems in your school/classroom prior to adopting Actively Learn?

Re-reading, passing back work and having students revise for homework

How has Actively Learn helped improve your students’ learning and/or your teaching?

I am able to give students more effective, efficient feedback as they read to monitor their thinking.  Students are able to revise their answers to questions and as a result of immediate feedback are able to revise their work and gain better understandings of the texts we use in class.

How do you use Actively Learn with your students? What type of content do you assign?

EOG passages, short stories, poems, nonfiction articles

What advice would you have for teachers who are new to Actively Learn?

Blend a mixture of multiple choice and short answer questions into Actively Learn as it keeps students more focused. If students are only given multiple choice questions, they generally don't read as carefully as when they are given short answer questions.
